Even The Best Have To Take A Break

So, you've probably noticed in the past two days that I've been kind of tardy with my posts. Well, that's partially due to my best friend Bryan's arrival to the city. Bryan's a hustler and I'm a entrepreneur. So, when you have two people grinding like you wouldn't believe it's often times hard to match schedules. In an effort to fix that problem, Bryan swung through Greensboro for a brief stay. We opted for some low-key days consisting of cocktails, lunch and the usual talk about business. On yesterday, we hit up a spot in the greater Greensboro area called "Smokey Bones!" Now, I'd never heard of or been to this spot but, Bryan raved about the wonderful food they serve on the regular. Upon initial observation, I was skeptical of the situation I had put myself in. I asked Bryan what he recommended off the menu and he suggested the Flippin Fingers tossed in Buff-A-Que sauce with a side of fries. Now, I know that sounds fattening but, I considered it a "off day" treat. Like the title states "Even the best have to take a break right?" Exactly. Well, I must admit Bryan was right with bringing me to Smokey Bones. It's now the new jump-off. The food was fresh and hot, the service was wonderful and the prices were very reasonable. Thanks in part to our wonderful waitress, Angela who didn't want to be photographed because of her bad hair day. Above all, I'd recommend Smokey Bones to anybody seeking a nice, reasonable spot to eat!

The Resident Record Spinner Turns 22

On yesterday we celebrated the one and only Resident Record Spinner's birthday. Anybody that knows the RRS will vouch for the fact he's not big on birthdays. He's what we like to call "low key chic" -- the type who strolls in quietly, says little to nothing, but speaks millions through his actions. Considering the person we opted for a quaint dinner of close friends at the ultra-chic "Graffiti Bistro" here in Greensboro. The food was superb but the customer service wasn't something to rave about. Above all, I kept it cute just for the fact it was the RRS's day! After diner we stopped by this gorgeous fountain outside the restaurant to capture some memories of the night. The RRS wasn't really up for pics but, after getting him together we got some really amazing pics of the night. Below, I've included some for your viewing pleasure. Get into the force that is "my friends!"

On behalf of The Intellect and I we'd like to wish our favorite, record spinner a Happy 22nd birthday. We love you!

SUMMERTIME

On yesterday, some colleagues and I met at the pool to celebrate the end of Summer Session I. As I saw directly with Session I, it's no joke cramming 4 months worth of work in 5 weeks. So to celebrate the arrival of good grades and closure of late, summer classes we enjoyed the leisurely act of doing nothing. We're usually on the move, making moves but, I've come to realize sometimes you just have to sit back and kick back. What's the point of hustling if you don't enjoy the benefits from time to time?

You need more evidence or do I have you convinced? I think I answered that myself.

Event: Cocktail Night At The Intellect`s

Even the best take time to relax and kick back sometimes. When we kick back it usually involves a bottle of wine, some good tunes and a long story for the next day.

They call them the COLLEGE YEARS for a reason!

Night Out With Friends

Saturday night some friends and I hit up Mellow Mushroom in downtown Greensboro. We had the opportunity to enjoy good food, good conversation and good times. While there we decided to do a little video just to give you more insight on the creators of this ship they call YOU GOT TEA. Get into the video and how the Intellect fails to introduce herself at the beginning. We'll give her a break this time though!

The Krispy Kreme Experience

So, what's better than good conversation accompanied by donuts? Only thing I can think of is the picture below of The Intellect in her Krispy Kreme hat. On yesterday The Intellect and I hit up the infamous Krispy Kreme on Battleground. Everyone and their mom is familiar with the infamous donut change but, until you've been to the Krispy Kreme on battleground have you had good donuts. The customer service was great, the donuts were hot and fresh and the store's decor was amazing. I know you're thinking who takes note to that much stuff when going into a restaurant or business but, your Fashion Connoisseur. I urge you to take note to things such as cleanliness, customer service and decor. Artifacts like these are essential in the longevity of any business. Below, I've included pics of our Krispy Kreme experience; Get into them!

The Intellect and her Krispy Kreme artifacts.

Get into that decor, tell me it's not a factor in you liking/disliking a business.

The infamous "HOT" sign!

Our friend, Carl who was great when it came to customer service.

A cool mother-son duo from New York who had never been to Krispy Kreme until this particular day. They explained how they were going to be mad when they got back up north and would have only Dunkin' Donuts again. Poor Northerners!

Brunch With The Boys

Yesterday, some friends and I went to Mimi's Cafe for brunch, cocktails and casual conversation. I'd heard rave reviews but, had to go experience the force they call Mimi for myself. I chose the the Buttermilk Pancake Breakfast; it came with three pancakes, bacon and a side of potatoes. I know that sounds fatty but, I added a bowl of fresh strawberries and blueberries to balance the plate out. The food was prepared and brought out hot and fresh and was very filling and for a lack of better words TASTY! As an avid fan of great customer service, I'd recommend the food and service at Mimi's Cafe at Friendly Center. You got that fresh from the mouth of your FC. Mimi's Cafe gets the YGT stamp of approval.

A view of Bryan's food along with mine.

Eric and his skimpy looking plate; he's on that freaking Mary-Kate diet!
Javie's food took a little longer due to the fact they were out of turkey burgers; damn healthy eater.
Yours Truly enjoying the environment.

The delicious dish I told you I had.

Hello, Spring Break Oh How I'm Ready For Thee!

Even the greatest have to take a break from time to time right? With that said, I just wanted to let all the loyal YGT readers know that The Intellect and I won't be blogging from Friday until Tuesday. We're taking a brief hiatus from blogging to venture to The District Of Columbia to network, make some contacts and even lounge a bit. It is called Spring Break!! While we're not blogging understand we're working towards making YGT bigger & even better for you. But, don't fret too much The RRS will slide in occasionally to drop you those sickening beats along with a dash of honey for your TEA. Now, you know we couldn't leave you dehydrated.

On that note; I'm off to finish this thing called packing. You can't have dinner with The Obama's wearing anything. Now you know what they call me.

Catch me while you can.

Road Trip With Mike & Av

On Saturday, some friends and I decided to hit up South point mall in Durham, NC. South point is one of the nicer mall in N.C. housing a Nordstrom, J.Crew, the ever so popular Urban Outfitters along with an array of other select retailers. Mike, Avery and I enjoyed casual conversation, great shopping and some every so tasty Cheesecake Factory. Below, I've included pictures from our adventure!!
Mike brought out the new whip for this trip!
Yours Truly, The Fashion Connoisseur enjoying some Dippin Dots as we walked to The Cheesecake Factory and the outside portion of the mall.
Avery enjoying his Boston House Salad, which if you ever go to Cheesecake Factory you must try. I tasted Av's and it was EVERYTHING.
I'm trying to count the carbs so I went for a chicken sandwich with fries. Don't give me too much, the toppings were on the side.
This dude and I go hard like CoCo and Chanel, Dolce and Gabbana, Andre Leon and Anna Wintour. You get the point; we date back to freshman year. We still going hard, Original FC member. I see you Mikey!

Until the next excursion, I'm signing out

I'm Back Like Jordan With The 2-3

I'm back people, I'm back. After a much needed vacation and hiatus from work & school; The Fashion Connoisseur is back and better than ever. This past weekend I was in Atlanta for The MLK weekend. I've never been a big fan of The Dirty South but, some friends promised me if I came through that I'd have a good time. As promised; I had a really, really good time. While in Atlanta; I shopped, enjoyed good convo with good people, met some great contacts and did what I went down there the most for, RELAX! The bad part is that I didn't take that many pictures, some things are better left not photographed. Just picture me in the corner of a light lounge chillen out with FAB people, you don't need a picture for that.

On another note, today is the first day of school for The Intellect and I. I'm just not ready to get back into the swing of things. That's the downfall of a vacation; Adjusting back to the real world. But, I have to look at the big picture, My degree = My Career which in return equals my dreams. I just hope I have teachers that understand the complexity of being a student and connoissuer. I want a teacher who understands that the classroom experience isn't anything compared to the real world experience. The type of teacher who just cancels class for the hell of it. In my dreams right?

I love you all, I really do.
