Lagerfeld Does BBC
I was on one of my favorite blogs by Megastar Pharrell when I came across this picture of Karl Lagerfeld from Harper’s Bazaar. In the spread Lagerfeld is wearing the BBC Space Down Jacket from the Winter 08 collection. That goes to show that Billionaire Boys Club is a line to watch out for. I'm not one for a t-shirt unless it's a simple v-neck but, I love the authenticity of the line. I remember when the whole skateboard trend was on the scene and everyone was wearing skinny jeans and vans. Then, as usual the trend came, people wore it then it was gone. But, to see Pharrell carry it on shows that for him it's not a trend but, yet a lifestyle. Kudos to Pharrell for sticking to his roots in what can be a wishy-washy industry.

Best Of Beyonce: You Tube Version
I go up for Beyonce just like the next person but she is so prevalent on the blogs that I only post when it's essential. I was browsing youtube which is one of the greatest sites ever when I came across the video of some of her best performances. There are millions of videos that consist of her performances but I particularly like this one. Take the time out to prop your feet up and get into her. She is one of the best performers and that's NO SHADE.

You Got Tea Says: Happy Bday Michael
The entire staff here at You Got Tea just wants to send a Happy 50th Birthday shout out to the iCON we know and love, Michael Jackson. No matter what he may go through from the outlandish makeovers to the children scandals, Michael is the best. He started what artist like Usher and Chris Brown are doing today. They may not ever cut him any slack but he sits when he wants to. Get into this vintage picture of Michael as a child. The brown, orange and coppers give me life.
Michael Jackson says he's "having a wonderful time, just relaxing" as he celebrates his 50th birthday Friday.
"I feel very wise and sage, but at the same time very young," he said in a phone interview with ABC's Good Morning America Friday.
"What's Mikey doing exactly for his birthday?"
"Just have a little cake with my children and we'll probably watch some cartoons," he revealed.

Peep this picture of actress Jessica Alba and singer Fergie at the Democratic National Convention held last night, August 28th in Denver. Get into Jessica Alba with the floral print. She's giving me low-key, new mom. Now Fergie on the other end is giving me Omen update with the nasty frame. I think both ladies were dressed appropriately for the occasion. This is the first time I'll be voting hence, my age. But even looking back on the past elections this seems like the first time everyone has felt like they are involved. This is how it should always be. You want a candidate who works for more than one race, ethnic group or demographic. We need a president who can transcend barriers and that's what Obama is doing. I'm proud to even be experiencing this significant piece of history. This is something that we will be talking about to our kids. I can't wait until January when The Intellect and I are in DC for his inauguration. That is when it will be official. For everyone who hasn't registered to vote make sure you do so. That is the only way we can experience change.

Justin Timberlake Does Denim
Photos: Courtesy of William Rast
This is a promo shot featuring Justin Timberlake and childhood friend Trace Ayala. The two collaborated on a new denim line called 'William Rast'. The line will contain men and women's denim designed by Johan and Marcella Lindeberg. I'm eager to see how this game plan pans out. Justin Timberlake is a big name but if customers don't like what your producing it'll ultimately be a flop. Ask Beyonce. Any who, make sure you pick up Timberlake's denim line when it hits select boutiques very soon.

A BAD BITCH Necessity: A Clutch Purse
This is a post dedicated to my trendsetting women of 2008. Now if your a BAD BITCH your already caught with a clutch in your hand every outing. But, this is to my not so fashion forward ladies. A Clutch is a great accessory/necessity for a night outing or even a dinner date with the girls. You are able to slide everything you need from keys to your id in a single object that is still trendy. I've heard females say before "Jaylen, can you put my keys in your pocket I don't want to carry my purse". Now STOP! just think if you had a nice clutch, one that matches your outfit preferably then it would be no problem. By no way is this post meant to bash the girls who just feel when they are in the club they need their hands free to twurk that dude they've been watching at school everyday. But, I'm just offering you methods of improvement. That's all it is. If I can't offer ideas to my up and coming trendsetters who can I? The clutch is an object that barely takes up any room and allows you to bring everything you need with you. So your never left wondering who had your keys or where you placed your Mac lip gloss. With that said below I've posted some pictures of some versatile clutches that should be added to your closet ASAP. Feast

A Fall Necessity: The Cardigan
I absoutley adore Cardigans. It's an article of clothing that can trenscend seasons, holidays and everyday wear. What I particulary like about the cardigan is that it can be dressed up or down. You can throw a t-shirt on with a cardigan for leisure or dress it up with a crisp button-up for casual/business. The cardigan is a modern day classic that will continue to evolve and be re created and re vamped. So with that said, invest in a good cardigan and figure out how to make it fit your persona.
Here are some examples of some cardigans I adore.
These two cardigans below could be worn casually. They are available via urbanoutfitters.com

How To Enhance Your Swag
This is a post dedicated to my metro men on the move. These are just tips to keep your swag at an all time high. Swag according to the Urban dictionary is defined as:one's own unique style or personality that sets them apart from anyone else. Being that it's the year 2008 the year of the metro, we as men should always dress to impress from head to toe. That's another topic all in itself though, but my point for this edition of 'Enhance Your Swag' is to attack the topic of scent. Now I know that sounds funny but, a scent is an important thing. Ever since I was young my dad taught me that a man should have a distinct smell. Be it dial soap, deodorant or better yet a cologne. A scent distinguishes you among others and leaves an impression of you even when your gone. I'm a firm believer in investing in a good scent so that it becomes your scent and only yours. Now don't get me wrong there may be someone else who wears your cologne but, once people know it as your scent it won't matter who else wears it. A scent can be mild, sweet or strong. It all depends on the person wearing it and the characteristics behind that person. I'm more of a clean, fresh, sweet kind of cologne wearer. I don't like things that are too heavy because they tend to linger in your clothing which isn't too good. I'm giving you a task, go out to your local Neiman Marcus and talk to the man/woman running the cologne counter. Explain to them the characteristics of yourself and what you prefer and they should be able to asset you easily. Below are some scents I recommend. With that said, that's the first post of "How To Enhance Your Swag". Stay tuned for future post. I'll leave you with a quote from Diddy, a modern day trendsetter.
Kenneth Cole "Reaction". It has a very refreshing scent. It'd call it fresh and light! It's worn by my best friend Xavier if you'd like a live model.
An oldie but definitely a goody. This scent has been around for awhile but it's a classic scent. I absolutely love this scent. It has a powerful smell that lingers all day but in a great way. A scent that can be worn everyday without any problems.
This is the new scent from Diesel 'Fuel For Life'. I was introduced to this scent by the sales lady at Neiman Marcus. I wasn't sold on the scent at first but it has a very natural smell. I like how it doesn't linger on your or your clothes but others can always smell it. One thing I hate is when you can smell your cologne but other's can't.
I've now given you some examples of actual scent I wear. Take it upon yourself to find a scent that matches you and make it your own. That is Mission 1: How To Enhance Your Swag.
Disclaimer: This post isn't by any means a way of bashing anyone. This is just merely to suggest options for guys who may be foreign to fashion and it's contents. Look at what I post as an art and not a criticism. It's for you my friend, it's for your better being, believe me.

Morning Man Bag
I must say I adore the Louis Vuitton Damier Graphite Bag. Created by Marc Jacobs and men's designer director Paul Helbers, this bag is one of the first bag designed especially with men in mind. The Damier pattern which dates back 120 years and is the third incarnation of Louis Vuitton's most popular pattern. This pattern which gives me masculine with a modern twist could easily be carried to the office or on a night outing with friends. I love bags that are versatile and transcend from day to night. This wonderful bag can be purchased via louisvuitton.com or picked up in The Fashion Connoisseur's closet.
Diddy said it best: "I have a 'man bag'. I'm not gonna lie. Just make sure that if you carry one, it's very, very big, so it doesn't get mistaken for a pocketbook".

Catch Your Breath: Brit's Not Performing at '08 VMA's
It's just been stated via Brit's manager, Larry Rudolph that Britt will not be performing at the 2008 Video Music Awards. There were speculations after her horrible performance last year that she would come back and show out at this year's show. Well it's FALSE! Sources say Britt is currently in the studio working on her new album and is focused on making it into the old Brit we know and love. I must say I'm mad that Brit isn't performing because I was looking forward to her re emerging better than ever. But, her new album is a damn good reason not to perform. I just want her to come back with this solid album and show everyone why she use to be the #1 selling female artist. I think MTV tried to pull the wool of our eyes by having Brit appear in promo spots. But, it's all good because they have to do what will get viewers to tune in. I don't knock MTV and their hustle. With that said get into this old school performance of "Oops I Did It Again/Satisfaction" from the 2000 VMA's. Go off Brit!

The Fashion Connoisseur, 20 Years Young
I must first say Thank you to everyone who helped make my birthday great! There is nothing like spending the day of your birth with the people you love. On top of that when your friends happen to be FAB it's even better. Being that my birthday was the official first day of classes I was bittersweet. I wasn't ready to get back into the swing of school but, who ever is? Nonetheless, it was made great by my close friends and everyone who shouted a Happy Birthday to me on campus. My celebration began with a close knit dinner at Bravo! Italian cuisine. Nothing too extravagant. Just a good time with good friends. I was decked out in a black and white ensemble with a splash of red. I was going for the Oprah a la` legends ball look. It was hit if I must say myself. Any who, dinner consisted of current events, memories with yours truly and a game of the infamous ZIP-ZAP-ZOP. Come to one of our birthday socials and you'll get into the game also. After, the great food and conversation we all came back to javie & I's lake house for cake and cocktails. More cake than cocktails considering Tuesday was only our second day of class. I didn't want anyone to have an excuse for not making it to class. See I'm a great friend. All about Education. After the wonderful night I had, I must say my 20th birthday was a really, really GREAT day! The love expressed from my friends was indescribable. It's amazing how when you surround yourself with great people it goes to show in the things you do. I can't even imagine my 21st. South Beach much? Let's Get it. History in the Making
Last night the 2008 Democratic National Convention got under way. Both Sen.Edward Kennedy and (future first lady) Michelle Obama took to the stage. Closing the first night of the convention, Michelle introduced herself to the country and showed why she is known as the "rock" of the Obama family. In her address she echoed the sentiments of her husband and refuted all the falsehoods of him being a "secret" Muslim and of her being unpatriotic. Peep her entire speech below and for those of you who think black love doesn't exist, get into Barack watching Michelle as she takes the stage. Now that's how your supposed to look at your wife!!! Happy Birthday To ME!
Today is my 20th birthday. I know, I know I don't look a day over 17. Anyways, I'm so fortunate to see another year because there are many people who can't say the same. I'm so blessed and I really do mean that. I'm in college and actually doing something with my life, FLY as FUCK (excuse my language), driven, motivated, have positive people behind me backing me and the list goes on. I think in order to know where your going you must take a step back and admire what you already have. That's so true. But, with this milestone of 20 years on this earth I'm excited to see what else is planned for me. I think if I'm this FAB at 20 imagine 20 more years when I'm 40. Like HOV said; 40's the new 30!! HAHA anyways, I just had to take a minute out to wish myself a Happy Birthday and share with the You Got Viewers how I feel on my J.Day. Feel free to leave birthday love in the comments section or email me for contact info for gifts lol. I have a gift registry at Neiman Marcus for my close friends who may not have known. With that said I'm off to my first day of class and to enjoy the Happy Birthdays I'll get all day. Stay tuned for pics for my J.day Celebration.

7 years ago we lost an Angel: Aaliyah
This is the day we pay homage to the late Aaliyah. I remember the first time I saw Aaliyah perform. She performed "One In A Million" on Nickelodeon's All That. Decked in baggy jeans, a fitted top and her signature swoop she was a new movement on the scene. Born January 16, 1979 and taken away from us August 25, 2001. When we lost Aaliyah we lost an artist on the brink of new things. She was a force to be reckoned with and the game truly knew it. Looking at artist today such as Ciara and Rihanna I see attributes of Aaliyah. If she was still here I could only imagine the music she'd have on the radio. She left at a time when her album 'Aaliyah' was getting the respect it had so long deserved. Aaliyah was the first chick to step on the scene giving you boy vibe with a feminine twist and it was fresh. On that dreaded day in 2001 when we lost Aaliyah heaven gained another angel back in it's rightful place. On this day let's pay love and respect to Aaliyah by playing some of her greatest videos. We love and miss you Aaliyah. If my calculations are right, forgive me if not I'm horrible in math Aaliyah would have been 29 years of age and still sitting.
