Give Credit When Credits Due

Speaking of Miss. Kelis I want to take some time out to vent. Now anyone who knows me understands how much I dislike Rihanna. Now it's not that I don't like her music or image but, I hate the way her label made her into this quote on quote fashion icon overnight when artist like Kelis came into the industry with a sick fashion sense that was created for Rihanna. I'm not going to start on Rihanna because that's a topic all in itself. But, back to the topic at hand. KELIS!!I have this passion for her. Despite her lackluster album sales at times, Kelis is a force to be reckoned with. She steps outside the norm in the fields of music, fashion and love. She takes things that people may look at as weird and awkward and turns them into a industry norm. The respect I have for Kelis is so strong that I had to dedicate a post to her. In a industry where things become verbatim at times (IE: the same styles, look, singles, videos) it's great to still have someone trying something new despite, the backlash she may suffer for it. Artist like Kelis respect music and will take lower sales to show their artistry and I'm all for that. With that said Get into some of the trends Kelis has rocked over the years. She's what you really call a MDT: Modern Day Trendsetter.
