Historic Night for North Carolina
Not only was last night a historic victory for America in electing its first African American President, it was also a historic night for North Carolina. For the first time in North Carolina history, a woman was elected Governor of the state. Beverly Perdue won in a landslide victory against Charlotte mayor Pat McCrory. Shattering the glass ceiling for North Carolina women in politics, Perdue, as well as newly crowned Senator of NC Kay Hagan, were strong supporters of Barack Obama and the Campaign for Change; which many have attributed to their decisive wins in their contest. I will be looking forward to what Perdue and Hagan have in store for Carolinians. I also hope both will continue the great initiatives that have been enacted so far in NC for the improvement of schools, teacher's salaries, and education in the state.
