Something To Aspire To In 2009

Dosomething.org, which is easily becoming one of my new favorite sites, has just released their Top 20 list of the most inspiring people of 2008. The list is complied of many heavy hitters in the world of entertainment, music, and politics. Also, since the list was created entirely based on the votes of the people, you can get a general sense of who really inspires the world. Not surprisingly, Barack Obama, who was able to influence the masses to believe in Change and actually vote, topped the list; knocking off 2-time winner and avid Obama supporter Oprah Winfrey. Peep the rest of the list below:

1. Barack Obama

2. Oprah Winfrey

3. Angelina Jolie

4. Ellen DeGeneres

5. Brad Pitt

6. Al Gore

7. Lance Armstrong

8. Michelle Obama

9. Bono

10. Michael J. Fox

11. Hillary Clinton

12. Will Smith

13. Tyra Banks

14. Hayden Panettierre

15. America Ferrara

16. Bill Clinton

17. Jordin Sparks

18. Michael Phelps

19. Jonas Brothers

20. Fallout Boy

As you look at this list and agree or disagree with the winners, I just want everyone to take this time and really think about how you gave back in the year 2008. Did you volunteer in the campaign? Did you give to the needy or participate in local charities? Did you give up your seat to someone who truly needed? What did you do this year to inspire someone in the year 2008?

As we approach the year 2009, we will be faced with challenges not seen in this country since World War II, but now is not the time to be cruel and be suspicious to helping others. Instead, we, the younger generation (high school, undergraduates, post-graduates, etc), should band together and make a real difference and show the younger and older generations how inspiring and powerful we are. Today, make the pledge to effect Change and inspire your community in the year 2009. We here at Yougottea have already answered the call and will continue to do so for next year, and the years that follow.

Be blessed and be loved,

The Intellect
