'Twas The Night Before Christmas

ESSENCE magazine did a great spread called The Best Hair Of 2008. Black Hair is a big deal in Black Hollywood. When your continuously gracing red carpets and photos alike, you have to have the perfect hair for every occasion. I find some influential weave wearers made the list. Below, I've included pictures of some of the best from the list.

As much as I hate to admit it, Rihanna has tipped to the forefront in 2008. She moved from being this little shy island girl to this trendsetting, fashion-forward, little fashionista. From the hair on her head to the threads draped on her body, she's one OVAH chick. She tipped in 2008, I look forward to the re-vamp in 2009.

Who else could rock a bowl cut and make it as sexy? No one, exactly. Kelis is a force to be reckoned with. She's started trends, ended them and re-vamped them all over. I'm ready for her to tip back out in 2009. The game needs her!

Hands down Malinda Williams is one of the hottest rockers of the short cut, She's rocked the short cut for a minute but, it never looks dry, out of style or late. I like that aspect of her.

From "Sister, Sister" to "Sister, Sexy," Tia Mowry has stepped out of the shadow of adolescence success and hit with her hair and a hit show. I love this short cut on her, it brings out her more sassy side.

I'm a sucker for a sickening bang, Mrs. Pinkett-Smith is everything no matter the occasion, place or event. Consistency is key!

Ciara has definitely progressed from the Blond days of "Goodies" and "Oh". I'm excited that with time she gets better, along with her hair. Black is back!

It's amazing looking at Alicia Keys, I remember the days of cornrows and box braids. With straight hair or a curly mane, Alicia never disappoints.

Ms. Lace-front herself, Tyra Banks made the list. From short bobs to 22-inch ponytails, Tyra's hair is always the TEA. I'm not mad though. Ty-Ty Baby TIPS!

Black Women Stand Up! Your hair allows you the oppurtunity to take on different persona's and attitudes. With African American hair we can do so many things. We were held down about our hair for so long but, now it's time to stand up! Let's give another round of applause for women like Madame Cj Walker, Beverly Johnson, Ursual Stephens and Patti Labelle who continue to keep our black women looking good.
