Throwback Tuesday

I live for the old Ci-Ci; it's something about that kinky mane and one piece body suit that drives me wild. A friend and I were watching this video the other day and if you look closely when Ciara is talking to Jazze Pha at the beginning of the video you can see Jeezy in the passenger side and Jody Breeze in the backseat. That's just some tea you may have not sipped before!

[Lil Kim ft. Lil Cease "Crush On You]

I've always lived for Lil Kim; it's something about her raunchy demeanor and street girl clout that makes me want to play "Hardcore" all day. Get into momma's body and fits in the video! Who else was rocking colored wigs, Chanel bathing suits and throwing around phrases from the kids in the 90's? I'm waiting...

....

....

Exactly, NOBODY!

[Timbaland & Magoo feat. Aaliyah & Missy Elliott - Up Jumps Da' Boogie]

I don't care what anybody says Missy and Timbaland have always been ahead of the game. They were creating crazy beats back in 97 and are still current now in 2009. This is what you call artistry at it's finest. Let's take it back to the VA era; when everybody was getting their life from Aaliyah, Playa and Magoo.

Talk about an OVAH white girl, get into her OVAH cut. She's cunt boots all the way. I want to take it back to the 90's; back when real music was at the fore front.

Tuesday Throwback

As promised, this weeks throwback videos will be to honor No Doubt's return to the studio and the road. The video for Don't Speak, jump started the popularity of No Doubt. From this video, we were first introduced the melodic voice of Gwen Stefani. We also got a first glimpse to her power and innovation as a song writer, as we all know this song is about her seven year relationship with the band's guitar player. Anyway, you can't tell me this song doesn't make you feel some kinda way about that one who had to get the boot for better or for worse.

Sssh Don't Speak, Just Enjoy

Throwback Tuesday: Fresh Face Edition

For this week's Throwback Tuesday I wanted to go back to the time of Fresh Faces. This is where you take some of the biggest artist this day and time and showcase their talent when they first stepped on the scene. The video for today is Pharrell's "Frontin". Get into Lauren London at the beginning before she was New-New and the face of Sean John Women. This has to be one of my all time favorite songs, feast coons!!

We present Throwback Tuesday with Raphael Saadiq's "Ask Of You" off the Higher Learning Soundtrack. This is one of my all time favorite songs. Saadiq never disappoints. With that said, make sure you pick up Raphael Saadiq's new album "The Way I See It" which is in stores now.

Tuesday Throwback

This week I wanna dedicate the throwback videos to the Divas of R&B and Soul. I have to start the week off with none other than Ms. Whitney Houston. Whitney Houston as always been one of my favorite singers, her voice is incredible and she knows how to sing a ballad like no other. Whitney Houston is that artist you sing along with no matter where you are or what you are going through; she is timeless and not matter what she is going through she will always been the Queen of Soul to me. Now get into this vintage Whitney.

Tuesday Throwback

Haha!! With 10 minutes left til Wednesday, it is me the Intellect delivering the throwback of the week. Although I am a proud Spartan of UNCG, this week I will be a pseudo-Aggie and be partaking in all the Homecoming events. Which brings me to this weeks theme for the throwback videos. This evening I went to the A&T comedy show with Mike Epps (who is hilarious!!) and as I waited for 2 hours for the show to start the DJ was bumping this incredible LL Cool J mix. Inspired by the mix, this week's Throwback videos are devoted to Mr. Ladies Love himself or as the Fashion Connoisseur would say The Man Who Never Ages.

LL Cool J's Loungin remix ft Total brings back memories of summer jams of the 90s, and now that the weather is getting colder who doesn't want to reminisce on some of my greatest summers.

Jamming to LL and wonder what happened to Total

The Throwback Tuesday is none other than Tweet's "Oops (Oh My)" off her debut album Southern Hummingbird. I remember the scrutiny that this video suffered due to the fact she was talking about masturbation. I don't know why people were so offended that she was talking about pleasing yourself. Hell, sometime you gotta do what you gotta do(wink wink)!!

The video for today is Notorious BIG's "One Chance Remix". I remember being in middle school hearing all the little girls singing the hook. Get into the cameo's from the video that include Mary J. Blige, ZANE, Heavy D,Da-Brat and the infamous shot of Faith Evans in the bed. Ahhh this is Hip Hop At It's Finest!!

Throwback Tuesday

So this week I will be taking over the Throwback videos of the week. Last week it was all about Ms. Jackson, well this week I wanted to do something a little bit different. So I was watching Making the Band and then I switched over to VH1's I Wanna Work for Diddy, and I began to think "Where did all the 90s talent from Bad Boy go?" Well since I am in charge of the videos this week, the theme for this week is classic Bad Boy artist who have came and went (this will exclude Lil Kim and B.I.G because they deserve a week all to themselves).

My pick for the Tuesday Throwback video has to go to the original Day 26. I have always been a fan of 112 and this video reminds me why I love these guys. This video reminds me of those days in summer camp when you used to listen to your single cassette tapes on the bus. Peep both B.I.G and Mase in the video and you know it would not be a Bad Boy production without Mr. I Thought I Told You We Won't Stop himself.

The Throwback Tuesday video is none other than Ms. Jackson. Get into the Janet era of red hair and sensuality. I loved this period of Janet's career because she was sexy but, not scandalous. She seemed so secure in her skin and it was so appealing. Velvet Rope is one of Janet's greatest albums and that's because of the sexuality she portrayed through the singles and videos released. I'm not as big a Janet fan as The Intellect but this one was one video I went up hard for. I love the breakdown dance sequence with the breast exposure at the end. Just like Janet to have those titties sitting pretty. I'm not mad at you Janet, GO OFF!

Throwback Tuesday

Here in North Carolina it's all rainy and dreary outside. The perfect day to snuggle up and watch a movie. With that said, "Rain" by SWV is the Throwback Tuesday video. SWV was one of the first groups to tip onto the scene. I can remember getting into their nails and laid hairstyles. With that said get into the video. Watch the video then call up your boo for some boo luvin. I know i will SIKE!

Throwback Tuesday

I love the time I can allow our viewers to take a step back into the era of Real Music. Now don't get me wrong I love progression but, it dates back to the old saying 'You can't know where your going, until you know where you've been'. That's so true especially with music. Elements from old music is recycled into our modern day music everyday through artist such as Kanye, Janelle Monae, Jay-Z and Estelle. Now don't get me wrong coonery is still prevalent. Soulja Boy much? Imagine 25 years from now when our kids are asking us "How do you crank that soulja boy" or "What's a donk"? With that said peep the Throwback Tuesday video which is REAL HIP HOP.

Jay Z "Song Cry"

25 years from now..
The Fashion Connoisseur looks at his trendy, asian, son London and says "Donk"? "Soulja Boy"? I have no idea of any of that coonery.

Throwback Tuesday

The Throwback Tuesday video is A Tribe Called Quest "Electric Relaxation". This song is a classic. The views of 90's New York reminds me of watching New York Undercover when I was younger. Ahh.. those were the days.

Also get into The Wayans Brothers opening which featured 'Electric Relaxation'. Can we get some good, black tv shows back on the air?

check back thursday for the competing video.

now you know it's; The Fashion Connoisseur
