Eye Candy: Keri Hilson for Complex September 2009

I don't usually use Keri but, I find these pictures quite amusing. They showcase the one thing she has going for herself, her beauty. That's no shade though, Keri's making moves with or without the haters!

B-E-A-S-T

Publication: Jay-Z For July 2009's Billboard Magazine.
If you grow up listening to hip-hop, you love hip-hop and that's the end of it. But if you're a 30-year-old rapper still trying to make music like you're 15, then you're making it narrow. At my age, I can't relate to a 15-year-old. I deal with mature and relevant topics for my age group -- it has to all be based on true emotions. The more diversity and the more mature we make hip-hop, the bigger the net you cast." - Jay-Z

He did say 30 was the new 20, what else did you expect?

The Jonas Brothers are currently gracing the cover for the latest edition of Seventeen magazine, and in there interview eldest JoBro had this to say about their fashion:

"You will not find us in sweatpants. That's not who we are. And you have to stay true to who you are. I'm dressing kind of nicely all the time now. But then it's like, What am I going to do next?"

- Kevin Jonas tells the new issue of Sevnteen magazine

I can faintly hear someone saying I told you so...

I hate name dropping but, Steven Meisel does it again with May 2009 issue of Vogue. The list includes known names like Naomi, Linda, Christy, Coco, Chanel and Jourdan. Now how can you go wrong with a list like that?

Stuck In A Bubble

[Halle Berry for May 2009 Harper's Bazaar]

Inside Halle talks motherhood, keeping her mojo and her much younger man.

Tell me how you keep your mojo. I have a 33-year-old man. That’ll keep your mojo mojo-in’.

Do you ever go on a food binge? I like Doritos. I’m usually watching The Biggest Loser eating Doritos.

You, Obama, and [your daughter] Nahla are biracial. What does that mean to you? Nahla will grow up in a completely different America. Obama is someone who’s more like her than not, who shares her history. Hopefully she’ll grow up in a world where it’ll be easier than I had it. I had a rough time. I was accused of stuffing the ballot box for my high school prom-queen election because they couldn’t believe the only black girl in the school won.

Kim Kardashian For Complex Magazine

Diplomatic! The last time we spoke, you said something to me, and I’ll read you the quote: You said, “I’m not the sex kitten that they’ve made me out to be, but I’ll give it to them when I have to. I know that’s what they want.” How does that differ for you when your audience is women and your audience is men?
Kim Kardashian: It doesn’t really; I’m a lot more shy than what people think, and when I was doing Dancing With the Stars, that really became apparent. That was the first time I wasn’t with my sisters; I film my reality show at home with my family. It really couldn’t be a more comfortable environment. And so when I was thrown into this world of performing and just being me—you see it on the show and my sisters say it every day—I’m so boring! I’m just not outspoken like they are. And I was really glad that everyone kinda got to see the real me, but even in Dancing With the Stars people expected this really outspoken, sexy…

Ah, c’mon, you’re the vixen, right?
Kim Kardashian: It was almost a struggle for me; these dancers have the most amazing bodies and they’re wearing next to nothing, and I’m over here trying to cover up more. And they’re like, “Wait, wait, wait, what? We thought you were supposed to be so comfortable with yourself,” and this and that. The thing is, I’m not that comfortable. Every girl has their insecurities, and with the outfits that they put you in, it became this struggle between people’s perception of me and the reality. I think I’m halfway in the middle. I mean, who doesn’t like to be sexy? But I’m not the most outspoken person. I’m a little bit more uncomfortable than perceived.

How has that image of you changed since you did your first cover with us?

Kim Kardashian: Because that was really, as far as big magazine covers— That was my first cover. I mean, you guys were my first, and I’m so proud of it and I thought it was so sexy.

Uh, yeah it was.
Kim Kardashian: I loved it. I do think that I’ve grown, though, and I base it all on my show. People can make up any story to go along with a picture, but when you see someone’s real life, it just opens up a whole different perception of me—and it’s totally who I am.

The Queen Bee Claims Her Throne

Ms. Wintour, we've got to do better. I know Beyonce was giving more shapely women hope with her American Vogue cover and I love her for that. But, the Vogue Italy, Marilyn Monroe inspired cover was better suited for a magazine designed for the fashion world. I know the humanitarian part of Beyonce is FAB but, it's something about Mrs. Carter draped in couture that sends me to another place. Either way, Beyonce inked those coins and has everyone talking about both covers. As, I've said a million times; If they aren't talking, then you're not doing your job!

Mary-Kate does it again; This time instead of American Nylon it's Korean Nylon. Korean Nylon recently used a reprint of a cover of Mary-Kate adorned in a Balenciaga dress from the FW07 season. I'd call this a classic wouldn't you?

Stack Those Coins Kesh

Get into the March cover of Vibe featuring Keyshia Cole. I like the simplistic element of the picture contrary to the usual pictures Keyshia takes. Being this is Keyshia's third vibe cover, it's a great change of pace. I like the fact that as Keyshia's career evolves she's also evolving as a women and an artist. Keep it up Keyshia, it's nothing wrong with stacking those coins!

D-Lister Edition: Christina Milian

Top D-Lister, Christina Milian graces the latest cover of Rap-Up Magazine. This is the first magazine cover Milian's done since her departure with Def Jam in 2006. In the magazine Christina discusses ex-boyfriend Nick Cannon’s marriage to Mariah Carey, along with her new album being released with MySpace Records.

On how she reacted after being dropped from her label:
“It was embarrassing. It was a week after my album [So Amazin'] got put out. I would be in my room a lot of the time crying by myself”.

On the reason why she was dropped:
“It was a budget cut, I believe. Def Jam probably got rid of projects like mine to spend the money on Rihanna.“

On who inspired her to get back into music:
“I bumped into Janet Jackson at a club. We talked for an hour and I was telling her I don’t know if I’m gonna do this, and she was like, ‘Girl, do not let them stop you. I’m a fan and you make good music’. She’s a person I actually looked up to growing up, so her telling me that really was the day I was like, ‘I’m not gonna let these people hold me down. It’s time’”.

On learning about ex-boyfriend Nick Cannon’s marriage to Mariah Carey:
“I was surprised like everyone else. I was like, ‘Really?’ It just seemed like a weird match, but I was happy for him. I always feel Nick works hard to get what he wants, whether that be women—that’s how he got me”.

Maybe Ole Milian can tip from the D-list to slight C-list with the new album. I'm just skeptical of the fact she's signed with Myspace Records opposite Def Jam. Once I hear a single from the album, I'll be able to give my FULL synopsis.

That is all.
