Even The Best Have To Take A Break

So, you've probably noticed in the past two days that I've been kind of tardy with my posts. Well, that's partially due to my best friend Bryan's arrival to the city. Bryan's a hustler and I'm a entrepreneur. So, when you have two people grinding like you wouldn't believe it's often times hard to match schedules. In an effort to fix that problem, Bryan swung through Greensboro for a brief stay. We opted for some low-key days consisting of cocktails, lunch and the usual talk about business. On yesterday, we hit up a spot in the greater Greensboro area called "Smokey Bones!" Now, I'd never heard of or been to this spot but, Bryan raved about the wonderful food they serve on the regular. Upon initial observation, I was skeptical of the situation I had put myself in. I asked Bryan what he recommended off the menu and he suggested the Flippin Fingers tossed in Buff-A-Que sauce with a side of fries. Now, I know that sounds fattening but, I considered it a "off day" treat. Like the title states "Even the best have to take a break right?" Exactly. Well, I must admit Bryan was right with bringing me to Smokey Bones. It's now the new jump-off. The food was fresh and hot, the service was wonderful and the prices were very reasonable. Thanks in part to our wonderful waitress, Angela who didn't want to be photographed because of her bad hair day. Above all, I'd recommend Smokey Bones to anybody seeking a nice, reasonable spot to eat!

Eye Candy: Raf Simons 2009 Fall/Winter Footwear Collection

I love how this season Simons showcased the beauty of color through the usage of different materials such as metallic accents and Velcro. I've never been a huge fan of Velcro on shoes but, with Simons new collection he's making me re-consider the spectrum. That's what designers are suppose to do right?

Baby Long As Your Here, I'll Be Floating On Air

Now, I've never been one to hint at what I want for my birthday. But, with it right around the corner it's time to drop hints like a motherf*@#%. You gotta use what you got, to get what you want right?

She Get It From Her Momma

Eye Candy: Kanye and on & off girlfriend, Amber Rose on the beach earlier this week.

I can't even front, Amber's bad and I mean B-A-D! From Momma's OVAH persona to her sickening body that appears like something sent from the gods. I've argued many people down about how if you took away Amber's buzz cut she'd look like any other white girl but, these pictures have TOTALLY changed my mind. Momma's definitely the business. It's like Brooke and Alexus who? Those are no names when put up against the ROSE. Oh how we love that delicate ROSE!

YGT, Meet Kevin Rice | A Fresh Face On The Scene

Here at YGT, we're all about the em betterment of our young, innovative, collegiate grinders. Today, we're featuring Kevin Rice, up and coming designer, model and entrepreneur. Kevin attended the prestigious Johnson and Wales Institute where he earned his BS in Marketing. I had the opportunity to meet Kevin through some mutual friends and upon initial conversation, I knew this dude was one ready to leave his mark on the game. Below, I've included some pictures from his recent spread along with an interview that provides insight on the force that is Kevin Rice. Get familiar YGT, this hurricane's ready to storm!

FC: So, for people who don't know you. Who is Kevin Rice?
Kevin: Lol, somehow I knew you would start with that one. Kevin Rice is a guy that's driven, playful, passionate about what he does, expressive in all channels of his life, and remains true to himself in all that he does

FC: For the people who aren't familiar with your work, what do you do?
Kevin: Well my two titles are model/talent booker, and stylist but I do a little bit of everything. During the week I book models and actors for fashion shows, photo shoots, commercials, television and film. On the weekends you can catch me doing some wardrobe styling for clients of Lotus boutique or out scouting models and actors.

FC: From your list of the many things you do, what attracted you to the fashion world?
Kevin: I've always liked clothes, and have always been inspired by fashion as a whole, but I had never really thought about a career in fashion while growing up. In my hometown, it was kind of looked down upon for guys to show interest in fashion or for a guy to pursue it as a career. My parents even tried to stray me away from it. I started considering a career in fashion when I enrolled in a fashion design course in high school. I had also joined this local team called the "Belk Teen Board", sponsored by Belk of course, where I had the opportunity to model, do some styling, and marketing. After that, I pretty much had a clear idea that fashion was my passion, and I was going to pursue it no matter what.

FC: Now, that you've gotten your name out there with fashion have your parents came around?
Kevin: I feel that they have come to understand that my mind is made up, but deep down they still would rather me pursue something more "practical". They feel I'm "too smart for fashion"...whatever that means lol. I have noticed an increase in their support though, so maybe in due time they'll trust my instinct.

FC: So, the pictures above are quite interesting. What was the concept behind the pictures?
Kevin: Thanks, glad you noticed them. The overall concept was indie hipsters. The indoor scene was indie hipsters chillin on a hot summer night after hitting the town and the festival. The outdoor scene depicts the hipsters running wild around the city seeking trouble to get into. It was a pleasure shooting with the photographer. His name is Jake Simpson, and he's a great up and coming fashion photography in the Carolinas.

FC: I also noticed some fresh faces in the ad with you. Who would those faces be?
Kevin: Yes of course! Their names are Mikal, Sarah, and Jason. Mikal and Sarah are both rising models in the Carolinas. Mikal actually just became the face of Mcauley's Boutique. Jason has been my best friend since I was 10, and he is also a model and talent booker for Carolina Talent as well.

FC: Well, with your well-rounded resume and extensive background in fashion, where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Kevin: I see myself as an accomplished entrepreneur. I've been working on the blueprint for my brand, which I hope to launch by the time I'm 25.

FC: Well, we look forward to seeing the line in the near future. Moving from the near future to current day, how did you find out about YGT?
Kevin: Thank you, I found out about YGT when I was researching blogs, while writing for my own.
FC: Well, on behalf of myself and YGT we'd like to thank you for taking time out to tell the people a little about yourself and your future endeavors. We looking forward to hearing more from you, your line and your future projects. Good luck Kevin!
Kevin: Thanks for featuring me! Good luck with YGT!

As you can see from the interview, Kevin Rice is a name to get familiar with. Not only is he tackling the modeling side of fashion, he's taking on the creation aspect in the formation of his own clothing line. I've said many times here at YGT that we're all about the empowerment of our young, black hustlers. This is a prime example -- I've come to realize if we don't motivate each other, who will? With that said, I want to wish Kevin and his colleagues the best of luck with their future endeavors. It's not the last time YGT will see Kevin Rice, so get your tea cup ready sippers!
